Welcome to the lab website of Yan Dong at the University of Pittsburgh. Our long-term aim is to understand the neural mechanisms underlying emotion and motivation, two basic and interlinked concepts fundamental to behavior in heath and disease. We particularly focus on how addictive drugs affect these neural systems to drive maladaptive behavior, utilizing an array of molecular, cellular, electrophysiological, imaging, and behavioral techniques.
